Background

I was lead designer of a responsive site replatform and redesign for NORC; one of the largest independent social research organizations in the US.

They needed a modern CMS platform that enables content authors to update the site efficiently. Their website is outdated in brand design and also lacks informational hierarchy to support seamless visitor exploration.

Process

My focus was the creation and implementation of a design system. It was important to create components that maximized the flexibility of templates and streamlined their various content needs.

I worked closely with their creative director to inform the visual design of the site and adhere to NORC’s brand guidelines. Their #1 priority was to make sure the site was as inclusive as possible, so we worked with an accessibility consulting group, PAC, to do regular audits on design and development.

Outcomes

An early success was the adoption of the design system towards NORC’s sub-brand websites. Those are in the process of being designed and built with a much shorter timeline due to the foundations of the components and templates I have created.
